Live At The Blue Note Chicago 2LP

Chicago club owner Frank Holzfeind ran his own reel tape during a 1953 week-long Nat King Cole residency at the Blue Note, catching a rare expanded lineup: Cole's usual sidemen John Collins on guitar and Charlie Harris on bass, plus an added drummer, Lee Young, filling out a trio that normally worked lean. Cole, a Chicago native, kept coming back to Holzfeind's club the way you stick with the barber who gave you your first good haircut, since the owner had backed him early in his career.
