We Buy Vinyl

Wax Trax is well known for paying fair prices for used vinyl, CDs, cassettes and hi-fi equipment like turntables and receivers.

We are interested in a wide variety of musical genres (some more than others based on what people are buying these days) and we have the ability to purchase both small or very large collections. Buyers are typically working at least part of every day at every store (except for Stanley Marketplace on Fridays).

Smaller collections (less than 100 LPs) can be completed while you wait if a buyer is present. Let the buyer know when you want to return to get your offer.

Larger collections may take more time  because we base our offers on criteria of condition, pressing, and what we already have in stock, we often need time to assess collections overnight. See below for really large collections. 

You can drop your collection by any store at anytime during our normal hours, and we'll either make an offer while you wait or within 24 hours. When you get a call, you will have 3 days (72 hours) to accept or decline and pick up any items we did not want to buy. After those 72 hours have passed, we reserve the right to process those records (including pricing them and putting them out for sale or throwing them away). 

Yes we do house calls for larger collections. The size of collection that will pull us out varies but generally we will go anywhere in Metro Denver for a collection of 500 or more quality titles that we can sell, and anywhere within a two hour drive for 1,000 or more. For even larger collections we have been known to travel much farther depending on what it is. 

We strongly prefer to use Paypal for larger buys, but we also buy for cash. 

Lists of what you have are not necessary, but letting us know the flavor of what you have will help us determine if it's worth bringing them our way. Provide us with a few titles and genres and we'll be able to give you a sense if we will be interested or not. 

• Vinyl - We buy LPs, 12", 7" 45s, 10", box sets and any format except 78s. 
• Cassettes - We buy cassettes! 
• CDs - Currently CDs are not in as high demand as they once were. We still buy CDs, but they do not command a high price and we only buy CDs that are pristine (without any scratches or other signs of wear). 
• 8-Tracks - Yep, we will even buy 8-tracks but we are picky on which titles we'll invest in. 
• Reel-to-Reel - Yep, we will buy reel to reels that are official releases (not someone's home recordings). 
• Turntables - Getting rid of an old turntable as well? If it is a quality model (with an adjustable counterweight on the tone arm, for instance), bring it by and we'll include it in our offer.  
• Other stereo equipment - we also buy receivers, amps, CD players, fancy cassette decks and high quality used speakers. We do not buy all-in-one units, console systems, reel to reel decks, or home theater systems.
