Color Vinyl
Splatter, clear, marble and every shade between — the pressings that look as good as they sound. Colored vinyl at Wax Trax.
Color Vinyl Records
Black is classic, but color is irresistible. Splatter, clear, marble, neon, half-and-half, swirl — color vinyl turns a record into an object you want to hold up to the light before you ever drop the needle. It's become the signature of the indie-exclusive era, where the variant is half the appeal, and collectors chase specific pressings the way others chase rare originals. A purely aesthetic pleasure, and an entirely valid one.
What You'll Find Here
Color vinyl pressings across every genre — splatter, clear, marble, neon, and limited color variants, including the indie-exclusive and store-exclusive editions that drive collectors wild. Mostly new and limited. If you collect for the look as much as the listen, this is your section — and the good variants don't stick around.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does color vinyl sound different from black?
In most modern pressings, no audible difference — the days of color vinyl meaning worse sound are largely behind us. A few exotic finishes can add a touch of surface noise, but it's rarely a concern.
Why is color vinyl so collectible?
Because variants are usually limited — a specific color is often a one-time pressing, which makes it scarce and chase-worthy. The indie-exclusive era runs on this.
Do you get the exclusive color variants?
Yes — store-exclusive and indie-exclusive color pressings are core to what we stock. Check New Releases and Wax Trax Exclusives for the latest.
