Recorded April 4, 1964 at New York's Town Hall, this volume follows Charles Mingus leading a sextet with Eric Dolphy, Johnny Coles, Clifford Jordan, Jaki Byard, and Dannie Richmond. Opener So Long Eric was written after Dolphy told Mingus he'd stay on in Europe rather than return with the band. The clear smoke vinyl here holds a lineup that had little time left together.
