Breaking the Shell LP

Breaking the Shell is a trio session from guitarist Bill Frisell, organist Kit Downes, and drummer Andrew Cyrille on Red Hook Records, built on the pipe organ's slow decay matching Frisell's loose time feel. It moves between free improvisation and reworked folk melodies, with rough, distorted patches keeping it from drifting into easy background music.
