Wayfarer - Riders of the Setting Sun LP

Wayfarer treats Colorado's mountains like a haunted stage set, and across five albums, including American Gothic, black metal has slowly absorbed Western imagery until the two are the same animal. Riders of the Setting Sun rides further into that cinematic territory, with a preview track pulling in David Eugene Edwards of 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand, the voice that can make black metal sound like a ghost story told on a porch, produced by Ben Chisholm of Chelsea Wolfe's band. This is regional metal, recorded in Colorado with the state's landscape part of the instrumentation.
