Soul Symphony LP

Soul Symphony closed out The Three Sounds' run on Blue Note, cut in August 1969 at Liberty Studios in West Hollywood after Gene Harris, Henry Franklin, and Carl Burnett reunited for one last date. Producer and arranger Monk Higgins stacked the session with french horns, flute, strings, and backing vocalists, and the nearly 26 minute title suite takes up the whole first side, built like a Sunday service, call and response rolling straight through. Harris walked into a solo career right after.
