Live from Austin, TX 2LP

The Texas Tornados were a supergroup only in the literal sense, four guys, Doug Sahm, Freddy Fender, Flaco Jiménez, and Augie Meyers, who'd each already built a career of his own before they ever shared a stage as a unit. This set documents a 1990 taping of PBS's Austin City Limits, running through conjunto, Tejano, country, and rock in both English and Spanish, with staples like "She's About a Mover" and "Mendocino" in the mix. Their self-titled 1990 debut had already earned the group a Grammy for Best Mexican-American Performance, so by the time of this taping the mixing of styles wasn't an experiment, it was just how they played.
