Country Vinyl Records
Country is bigger and stranger than its reputation. Hank Williams and Patsy Cline at the classic root; the outlaws (Willie, Waylon, Cash) who blew the Nashville machine off course; and the alt-country and Americana crowd (Uncle Tupelo, Gillian Welch, Sturgill Simpson) who kept the form honest. Being a Denver store, we've also got a real soft spot for the new wave of weird country coming out of our own scene — we write about it on the blog and we stock it in the bins.
What You'll Find Here
Classic and outlaw country, honky-tonk, Americana and alt-country, plus Western and the occasional bluegrass crossover. And yes — local Denver and Colorado country acts, because championing the home team is kind of our thing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's "outlaw country"?
The early-'70s rebellion against Nashville's polished assembly line — Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson making rawer, songwriter-driven records on their own terms. It's where a lot of people's country collection starts.
Do you carry alt-country and Americana?
Heavily. From the Uncle Tupelo lineage to current Americana, it's one of the more active parts of the section.
Any local Colorado country?
Always. Denver's got a thriving, genuinely odd country scene and we stock and write about it — check our Colorado Local section too.
