Angels and Demons at Play LP

Angels and Demons at Play gathers Sun Ra material cut in Chicago in 1956 and 1960, first issued on his own Saturn label with Arkestra players of the era including John Gilmore, Pat Patrick, and Marshall Allen. The two sessions sit side by side here, tighter big-band charts from the mid-1950s running straight into the looser, more exploratory playing Sun Ra was reaching for by 1960. This 180-gram pressing comes from Waxtime.
