Cuttin' Grass Vol. 2: Cowboy Arms Sessions is Sturgill Simpson's second bluegrass pass through his own catalog, a sequel Simpson calls more personal and less cautious than Volume 1, like brakes let off halfway down a hill. It arrived as a surprise through his own High Top Mountain Records via Thirty Tigers, its title borrowed from the Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa and producer Cowboy Jack Clement's corner of the Nashville studio world. Stuart Duncan, Mike Bub, Sierra Hull, Scott Vestal, and Tim O'Brien join Simpson's drummer Miles Miller on the session.
