The Live At The Whisky 1981 LP

Recorded live at the Whisky a Go Go in 1981, this set catches Roky Erickson mid-transition, the former 13th Floor Elevators singer trading his 1960s psychedelic roots for the tighter garage snap of the Explosives, his regular Austin backing band that era. "Two Headed Dog" and "You're Gonna Miss Me" get the leaner treatment here. The tape sat unreleased for decades before Sunset Blvd Records finally put it out, first on CD, then on vinyl, which tells you something about how long good evidence can wait.
