Psych & Garage Vinyl Records
Garage rock was the sound of every teenager in 1966 plugging in and refusing to play it safe — raw, fuzzy, gloriously amateur, and immortalized on comps like Nuggets. Psych took the same energy and dosed it, chasing the studio as far as it would go. From the canonical acid-rock LPs to the obscure regional 45 that pressed 500 copies and vanished, this is some of the most fun digging in the entire store. Fuzz pedals optional; an appetite for the weird, mandatory.
What You'll Find Here
'60s garage rock, psychedelic rock, freakbeat, acid folk's louder cousins, and the comps (Nuggets and its many descendants) that map the territory. Reissues and original pressings, with a real emphasis on the obscure and the regional. The 45 bins here hide some of the genre's greatest one-shot wonders.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is freakbeat?
The harder, fuzzier, more aggressive end of '60s British beat music — the bridge between mod R&B and full psychedelia. A crate-digger favorite for its rarity and raw energy.
Where do I start if I'm new to this?
The Nuggets compilation, no contest — it's the genre's Rosetta Stone, packed with one-hit garage and psych gems. Then follow the rabbit holes.
Are the rare garage 45s expensive?
The legendary ones can be, since original runs were tiny. But the comps make the music accessible, and the dig itself is half the reward.
