Moon Child LP

Pharoah Sanders cut Moon Child in October 1989 at Studio Davout in Paris with pianist William Henderson, bassist Stafford James and drummer Eddie Moore, playing it straighter than longtime fans expected. The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings called it his most straight-ahead record in years and praised its hypnotic groove, while AllMusic's Steve Loewy noted the shift toward a more traditional, thoughtful style caught some listeners off guard.
