Pyramid LP

Pyramid was stitched together from two different sessions, one at the Music Inn in Lenox back in August 1959, the other at Capitol Studios in New York that December and into January 1960, with Atlantic's Nesuhi Ertegun producing both ends. The quartet of John Lewis, Milt Jackson, Percy Heath and Connie Kay built the record around Ray Brown's nearly eleven minute "Pyramid (Blues for Junior)," its longest cut, then rounded things out with Lewis originals, a Duke Ellington standard, and Jim Hall's "Romaine."
