Kind of Blue LP

Recorded over two sessions at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in 1959, Kind of Blue finds Miles Davis leading John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley on saxophones, Bill Evans on piano (Wynton Kelly stepping in for "Freddie Freeloader"), Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums. Davis built the record on modal scales instead of fixed chord changes, a choice that rewired how jazz musicians thought about improvising. The album has since gone 5x Platinum and earned a spot in the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry.
