Soundtrack LP

Happy Together won Wong Kar-wai the Best Director prize at Cannes in 1997, and its soundtrack breaks from his usual Cantopop playbook entirely. Instead of the pop cues that usually score his films, this one runs on Astor Piazzolla's tango and a run of Frank Zappa tracks, built for a story about a gay couple's relationship falling apart in Buenos Aires. This Universal Music Japan pressing puts that tango and Zappa mix on clear green vinyl, a genuinely different score in his catalog.
