Dear John C. LP

Elvin Jones spent his most famous years keeping time behind John Coltrane, but on February 23 and 25, 1965, he stepped in front of a quartet of his own: Charlie Mariano on alto, Roland Hanna and Hank Jones splitting piano duties, Richard Davis on bass. Impulse! Records issued the results as Dear John C. that year, catalog A-88, nine tunes including "Smoke Rings" and "Anthropology," now reissued in the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series.
