Doveland is Django Django's sixth studio album, named for an internet myth about a town that supposedly vanished from rural Wisconsin, a ghost story the songs never actually visit. What's real is grief sitting in the room the whole time: drummer Dave Maclean lost his older sister while it was being made, and bassist Jimmy Dixon lost his father in the same stretch, knocking the London art-rock band's usual genre-hopping into something more inward. The single "Cameos" pulls from J.G. Ballard's 1974 novel Concrete Island, and the whole thing lands on the band's home label, Clouds Hill.
