Curry, Denzel & Kenny Beats - ii LP

Friction is the engine behind ii, the record where Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats, Kenneth Blume, picked their partnership back up after 2020's Unlocked, itself born from Curry's run on Kenny Beats' now-defunct YouTube series The Cave. Working with nothing but an SP-404 sampler and a cheap microphone, the pair let that friction grind the sound down into something looser and more direct. Pressed on clear vinyl, the nine-track set carries Yebba through "Difference," JPEGMAFIA through "Evil Grin" and Westside Gunn through "Crown."
