Sleep Cycle LP

Deakin's solo debut, Sleep Cycle, finally surfaced in 2016 after years gestating inside Animal Collective's orbit, and it moves like reverb pooling in a room: six tracks, four long pieces held between two short interludes, "Shawdow Mine" and "Seed Song." The layered acoustic arrangements draw comparisons to Panda Bear's Person Pitch and the vocal work on Grizzly Bear's records. Critics called it a surprisingly strong introduction, with Dibb's voice landing harder here than it did on Animal Collective's more muted Centipede Hz. This 10th-anniversary pressing comes on purple vinyl with a download card.
