Rain Music (180g yellow vinyl)

Rain Music pairs two people who always seem to be in somebody else's credits: Carlos Niño, the LA percussionist and KPFK host who co-produced André 3000's New Blue Sun, and London's Duval Timothy, whose own catalog runs through Kendrick Lamar, Mount Kimbie, and Solange. Here they finally get top billing, bringing in guitarist Nate Mercereau and rapper Navy Blue as guests. Timothy also runs Carrying Colour, his own label and lifestyle brand, on the side. The album leans on the same loose, ambient, jazz-minded instincts that both artists have built careers on.
