For its fourth studio album, Fugazi began to move into more experimental styles of music, including noise punk, psychedelia, and dub. Fugazi opted to retreat from the in-your-face production values of In on the Kill Taker.
This is where the quartet solidified its well-documented anti-establishment reputation. 'repeater' is also notable for its two instrumentals - 'brendan #1' and 'joe #1' something all subsequent Fugazi LPs featured.
The record blends avant-garde noise, lo-fi electronics, post-punk angularity, and fragile folk melodies into an unsettling but deeply personal soundscape
