Mark Allen Scott runs Villagerrr solo, like a kid who never let the bedroom guitar songs leave the bedroom until they got too big for it. He started the project in 2022, folding the country music he grew up on in Chillicothe into a poppy, slowcore-tinged heartland rock sound, now based in Columbus. Tear Your Heart Out is the breakout that follows three self-released full lengths, Brain Pain, Ohioan, and Like Leaves, plus an EP, built through Bandcamp uploads and house shows before the project became a full band.
