Empire Records Soundtrack (1995) 2LP

Empire Records died quietly in theaters in 1995, but its soundtrack caught fire slowly, built track by track into a cult favorite years after the movie came and went. The label switched the project from Atlantic to A&M specifically to land the Gin Blossoms, and "Til I Hear It From You" became a major U.S. hit and spent six weeks at number one in Canada. The set also carries Evan Dando's cover of Big Star's "Ballad of El Goodo" alongside new songs from Cracker, the Cranberries, and Toad the Wet Sprocket.
