Released on Philles in 1963, this is Phil Spector's Wall of Sound turned loose on holiday standards, with Darlene Love, the Ronettes, the Crystals, and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans splitting lead vocals. Few Christmas albums get covered and sampled as often. It closes on a spoken message from Spector laid over "Silent Night," a quiet ending to a record built on scale.
