ESTRUS smells like something animal let loose on a pop record, Tove Lo's sixth album, following 2022's Dirt Femme, put out on her own label Pretty Swede Records. She built it between Los Angeles, Stockholm, and the small Swedish village where she spent childhood summers, working again with producer Ludvig Söderberg (also behind records for Lorde and Zara Larsson). The title comes straight from mammalian reproductive cycles, her shorthand for desires that don't agree with each other, and the duet "Des Fleurs" pulls in Belgian artist Stromae to prove it.
