Greater Jamaica Moon Walk - Reggay LP

Tommy McCook ran the house band at Duke Reid's Treasure Isle, the Supersonics, right through the ska-to-rocksteady handoff, and this 1969 instrumental set is his arranging at its most confident. The title spells 'reggae' the old way, back when the genre was still finding its name. McCook worked under most of the era's major producers and picked up Jamaica's Order of Distinction in 1975. A foundational session player's record, worth knowing by name.
