(self-titled) LP

Tom Verlaine left Television and immediately proved he didn't need the name: his self-titled solo debut landed on Elektra in 1979, produced by Verlaine himself with former bandmate Fred Smith sitting in on several tracks. The credits hide a quiet joke of a guest list, Ricky Wilson of the B-52's playing guitar on "Breakin' in My Heart" and singer Deerfrance turning up on "Red Leaves." The Village Voice gave it an A-minus, and NME ranked it among the year's best.
