The Body, the Blood, the Machine is a 2006 concept album the Thermals built around a young couple fleeing a fascist, faux-Christian America. Hutch Harris and Kathy Foster recorded it largely as a duo after their drummer left, adding one only for touring. It followed the uneven Fuckin A as a real step up, PopMatters giving it 8 out of 10 for the band's maturity and range. Sub Pop later folded it into a vinyl reissue series alongside More Parts Per Million and Fuckin A, treating it as the group's most acclaimed work.
