Dirty Reggae LP

The Aggrolites call themselves the originators of dirty reggae, a stripped-down mix of lurching Caribbean rhythm, '60s soul melody, and punk attitude, and this early-2000s record is where they first laid that sound on the table. The Los Angeles band built its name on vintage keyboard tones and a raw, unpolished approach, less a studio trick than a band playing like the mixing board barely works. That same formula carried into later Hellcat Records albums, including their self-titled 2006 follow-up and 2007's Reggae Hit L.A.
