Grey Skies LP

Before Sunshower made her name, Taeko Onuki had to walk out of a band first. Sugar Babe, the trio she ran with Tatsuro Yamashita starting in 1973, barely lasted a few years but got treated afterward like a pillar of Japanese city pop. Grey Skies, cut for PANAM/Crown, is her first move without that group, carrying its warm pop and soft rock DNA into a solo run that properly started here, one year before the record everyone remembers.
