Follow-up records usually bury the new guys in the liner notes, but Suffocation hands half the riffing on ...Of the Dark Light to recent arrivals Charlie Errigo and Eric Morotti, alongside the three founders, Frank Mullen, Terrance Hobbs, and Derek Boyer, who've carried this band since the technical death metal boom of the early nineties. The record after 2013's Pinnacle of Bedlam ends on a joke that isn't really a joke: a re-recorded "Epitaph of the Credulous," dragging their 1993 debut, Breeding the Spawn, back into the present.
