Squid built momentum the hard way, cutting early sides for Speedy Wunderground out of Brighton before the move to Bristol and a deal with Warp in 2020. Bright Green Field kicked its way to number four on the UK chart a year later, driven by the same jagged post-punk churn the band pulls from Neu! and This Heat. Near the Westway, a limited 12-inch on Warp, catches the band mid-stride, still hammering out ideas from that same productive run.
