Out Come the Freaks 12"

Soft Cell's cover of Was (Not Was)'s 1981 original arrives as the lead single from Danceteria, the album the duo was working toward when Dave Ball died. Marc Almond gets Nona Hendryx, one of dance music's most reliable collaborators, on vocals, an odd but logical pairing for a band whose biggest song is still "Tainted Love." It's a dancefloor move from a group that helped build early-80s British synth-pop and apparently never wanted to leave the genre behind.
