Soft Cell finished Danceteria before Dave Ball died in October 2025, which makes the timing brutal rather than convenient: Marc Almond now calls it a tribute to the partner who helped build early-'80s British synth-pop with him in the first place. Named for the New York club, the record leans into a disco-ready title track and pulls in a guest vocal from Nona Hendryx. It's the sixth and last Soft Cell album, closing a partnership that ran through decades of breakups and reunions.
