It's a Style Sport LP

Ishmael Butler already had a Grammy before Shabazz Palaces existed, won in 1994 fronting Digable Planets on "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)." He launched this project in 2009 and spent years with multi-instrumentalist Tendai Maraire, a collaborator who later left the group after the two of them steered it into denser, more abstract, free-associative territory. Their run of Sub Pop albums, starting with 2011's Black Up, gave the label its hip-hop wing. It's a Style Sport keeps that same left-field streak going, now pressed on color vinyl.
