Fairweather Friend LP

A car accident on tour took Sam Burton's band off the road and, in the recovery that followed, off the map entirely, and 'Fairweather Friend' is what he wrote once that chapter was finally closed. It's his third solo album and first for Captured Tracks since 2023's 'Dear Departed,' produced by Jonathan Wilson, the same name behind records for Father John Misty and Conor Oberst. 'I'm a Stranger' leads it off, sitting exactly where Burton says he wanted it, somewhere between nostalgia and alienation, close enough to both that neither one wins.
