The Voice of the Eagle LP

The Voice of the Eagle, out in 1972 on Vanguard, stands as Robbie Basho's tribute to Native American history and culture, carried by his steel string acoustic playing and an operatic vocal style few guitarists of his scene attempted. Basho ran alongside John Fahey and Leo Kottke in the American Primitive movement but pushed further into vocal performance and thematic concept work. "Wounded Knee Soliloquy" and "Omaha Tribal Prayer" anchor its historical focus.
