Revolutions per Minute LP

Fat Wreck Chords put out Revolutions per Minute at the exact moment Rise Against's hardcore attack started letting melody and politics share the same song, and that shift matters: the post-9/11 tension between patriotism and dissent runs through it alongside more personal songs about loss, all carried by Tim McIlrath's raw, urgent vocals. Critics have traced a good chunk of the melodic hardcore scene that followed back to this, the Chicago band's second album.
