The White Tape LP

The White Tape gathers four-track recordings Phish made between 1984 and 1986, a cassette-only demo they used to talk their way into venues years before Junta became their first official album in 1989. Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, and Jon Fishman turn up across the tracks alongside a handful of outside players, with Anastasio running the sessions. Phish put it out on CD themselves in 1998 through Dry Goods, and Jemp Records picked it up later, pressing a limited white vinyl edition in 2011 tied to the band's Superball IX festival, each reissue chasing a tape nobody meant to sell in the first place.
