Wild God CD

Wild God is the Bad Seeds' 18th studio album -- and, yes, there's been a lot of blood flowing under the bridge since 1984's From Her To Eternity marked Cave's transition from the chaotic self-immolation of his earlier band, The Birthday Party, to a music that started to come to grips with what it means to stop killing yourself and get ready to stay alive. Wild God is the music of a man who, as he noted recently, is 'no longer in awe' of his own genius but is in awe of waking up every morning in world haunted by death and loss but waking up nonetheless and finding joy in the simple dignities of survival and love. When Nick sings, 'Love asks for nothing / But Love costs everything,' you know he's paid the price and knows the debts he still owes. - Duane
