(A) Senile Animal 2LP

(A) Senile Animal rebuilt the Melvins from the ground up after bassist Kevin Rutmanis walked: Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover absorbed the whole duo Big Business, adding bassist Jared Warren and a second drummer, Coady Willis, standing alongside Crover's kit. It's the band's fifteenth studio album, cut at West Beach Recorders in Hollywood, and it keeps every pound of sludge and stoner-metal weight the band carries while hitting harder with some of the most direct, straightforward songwriting they'd written in years.
