Introspectio CD

One guy, one accordion, no effects, no loops, and somehow Mario Batkovic makes it sound like a full orchestra crammed into the instrument. He's a Swiss composer signed to Invada Records, the label Portishead's Geoff Barrow started, and his self-titled debut landed on Rolling Stone's list of the ten best avant-garde albums of 2017. He's carried that reputation to festival stages including Supersonic, Le Guess Who?, and the Montreux Jazz Festival, and Introspectio keeps pushing that same single-instrument, maximalist approach into unexpectedly heavy, hypnotic territory.
