Lizzy McAlpine, a Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter, dropped out of Berklee to chase music full time, a gamble that only looks smart in hindsight, and hers paid off: 2022's Five Seconds Flat threw off the viral hit "Ceilings" and got her signed to RCA for 2024's Older. Angel is her fourth studio album, still working folk, bedroom pop, jazz and R&B into the same blend, arriving after a run of high-profile team-ups with Noah Kahan and Niall Horan that pushed her into a much wider pop audience.
