La Dispute followed their 2008 debut with Wildlife, released in 2011 as their second album for No Sleep Records: a set of fictional short stories narrated by a single author character, threaded with four spoken monologues and the narrator's own unraveling, built from loss, grief and decay in the band's hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. AllMusic gave it five stars, praising a leap in maturity, and it became La Dispute's first release to chart on the Billboard 200.
