Follow the Light LP

June McDoom carries two generations into Follow the Light, her Jagjaguwar debut after a pair of EPs: her father's DJ sets on one side, her grandfather's work keeping rural Jamaican acoustic folk alive on the other, both bleeding into a slow blend of reggae, dub, and folk. She wrote it with partner Evan Wright, building minimal arrangements up patiently instead of fast. "Without You" says it plainest, live drums and a dub bassline holding steady under shoegaze swells.
