Experimental Rap 2LP

Static and feedback crowd the edges of Experimental Rap, JPEGMafia's sixth album and the follow-up to I Lay Down My Life for You. The Baltimore producer handled nearly all of it himself, with Billy Ray Schlag co-producing a handful of cuts and Buzzy Lee turning up on “Bridges on Fire” across 25 tracks of industrial noise and punk aggression. Pitchfork found plenty of fun in it but fewer subversive ideas than the title promised, and NME called the flow surprisingly one-note for an artist built on keeping people off balance.
