Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, performing as JPEGMAFIA, was born in New York City on October 22, 1989 and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where he launched his musical work. He has been based in Baltimore and currently lives in Los Angeles. His album Veteran (2018) was a breakthrough in experimental hip hop, with All My Heroes Are Cornballs (2019) continuing his critical recognition. His 2023 collaboration with Danny Brown, SCARING THE HOES, received critical attention. He has produced for Kanye West, Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, Freddie Gibbs, and others.
