The Sound a Body Makes When It's Still LP

The Sound a Body Makes When It's Still is Hot Mulligan's fourth album, out on Wax Bodega after 2023's Why Would I Watch, and it undercuts its own seriousness on purpose. Free Throw's Cory Castro turns up on "Island in the Sun," one of the record's hookiest cuts, buried under joke titles that keep the band from ever sounding precious about its own emo. BrooklynVegan called it their biggest and best album yet, which only sharpens the joke: the better the songwriting gets, the less the band lets on that it cares.
